Akela Tracker Sport Dog Harness Padded & Reflective Red
Starting at £17.99
Features of the Akela Tracker Sport Dog Harness:
- A highly adjustable dog harness designed to fit dogs of varying shapes and sizes. The harness has five points of adjustment so it can be suited to deep chested dogs or rounder ones. As well as the two rear straps being adjustable three three points on the chest can also be adjusted so it fits snugly around the dogs front, perfect for a comfortable fit.
- A low profile dog harness with minimal back section. The main body of the harness is designed to be low profile to minimise any bulk added by wearing the harness and to allow the biggest freedom of movement possible for your dog.
- A padded dog harness. The harness back is padded for maximum comfort for your dog. The two rear straps have a padded section which sits over the straps under the belly to prevent any chance of the harness rubbing the dog. Finally the front chest section has extra padding in the middle, perfect for spreading the load when the dog pulls and keeping them comfortable.
- Soft nylon webbing. The straps on the Akela Tracker Sport dog harness are made from a soft and lightweight webbing to allow for maximum comfort for your dog.
- Harness does not go over the dogs head. When fitting the dog harness the dog must step into one section with his front right paw, the other clips then all go under the dogs belly and clip at the side. This means that at no point does the harness have to go over the dogs head, this is more suitable for some dogs who have a fear of novel items going over them. This is also the best way to fit as it means the dogs lead can remain attached to the collar until ready to be attached to the secured harness, leaving no chance of escape.
- Lightweight dog harness. All materials used in the harness are lightweight so as to not make your dog work any harder carrying the weight around.
- Dog harness with grab handle. This harness has a handle in the middle of the back, perfect for helping your dog in and out of the car, over styles on a country walk or just for close control.
- Triple reflective design dog harness. The back of this harness has reflective piping and a reflective logo square, meaning you can see the dog well in torchlight from behind. There is also piping on the side, above the middle strap allowing for visibility from the side, and a logo panel on the front which allows you to see your dog when it is facing you too.
- Striking red colour. The red colour of this harness is designed to look smart and be visible on most dog coats.
Usage:
- Use with flexi leads / tracking lines instead of attaching to collar to prevent dangerous neck jerks. A dog running at full speed to end of a flexi lead or tracking lead can do themselves damage as they hit the end of the line. By allowing that impact to be taken across the chest rather than on the neck you can improve the safety of your dog and reduce the risk of injury.
- Use this harness for jogging with your dog. If you wish to jog with your dog on a lead then attaching the lead to a harness prevents the risk of your dog hurting their neck if your paces do not match at first.
- Countryside walking where dog needs to be helped over styles and obstacles. The grab handle on this harness means you can safely assist your dog over a style, fallen tree or across a crevice.
- Night time walks. On lead or off lead the reflection of this harness will help your dog to be seen. This harnesses works especially well for allowing you to see your dog at a distance in torchlight on dark nights or in foggy conditions. It also works great for night time road walks.
- Cliff walks. We have all heard the awful true stories of dogs following seagulls off cliffs and other similar nightmare situations. If you are on a walk which poses any danger like this then rather than keep them on a short leash why not use a flexi lead or tracking lead and attach to this harness. You can then give your dog plenty of freedom without the danger.
- Entry level canny-x. If you fancy having a go at canny-x but don't fancy buying dedicated gear then this harness can also be used for the sport. By attaching your dogs lead to a harness rather than a collar you reduce the risk of neck injuries.
- Entry level tracking. If you want to get your dog into tracking then this harness is suitable for attachking the tracking lead to. The low profile design will not hinder your dog and you can even train your dog to learn that when the harness goes on its time to "work".
- Rescue dog or dog without recall training. If you have a dog that needs the freedom of being able to run around on a long line or flexi but cannot be trusted to be off lead just yet, then this harness is perfect for attaching the lead to your dog.
- Grabbing your dog quickly without stress. If you have your dog off lead, but are in a situation where you need to grab them quickly such as stopping them from going up to a non-friendly dog, a nervous child or a group of horse riders who just appeared around the corner then this harness allows you multiple grab points without lunging at the dogs neck. The handle allows for safe but "looser" holding than the tight feeling caused by holding a dogs collar, thus preventing a build up of nervous energy.
- Assisting into car or up and down stairs. If your dog has trouble getting into the car or in other day to day situations where a quick lift is needed then this harness can help you safely give your dog a quick hand up.
Size guide:
To allow for a snug fit please check the following measurements on your dog. The corresponding harness parts are shown in the images to allow for correct match up. Please note these sizes are approximate and show the extremes, for best fit your dog's measurements should fall somewhere in the middle of each. We do not recommend the harness will fit well if your dog is within a cm or two of either extreme as these sizes are all approximate. We have now introduced "middle" sizing to allow for a better range of fit.
